FREE Jellybass Mix CD Download

May 6th, 2007

Here’s a little bank holiday treat for anyone still reading my blog :D

We’ve been busy working on new tracks and thought a nice DJ mix would be a good way to show off some new bits and also celebrate the fact that the first album will shortly be available on all major mp3 stores, just waiting on the encoding…

If you’re interested you can download the 30min mix of head nodding, booty shaking, bass wobbling Jellybass tunes here:

Jellybass Mix Vol 1 [28.2MB] – Right click to download

Feedback is welcome and feel free to add us to myspace (myspace.com/jellybass)

Enjoy :D

MP3 Trimmer

April 19th, 2007

MP3 Trimmer

This program is a life saver! Can batch process a series of mp3 files and create short clips for you automatically. The length of the clips is adjustable and you can also set it to fade in and out. Whats better is that it doesn’t re-encode the mp3 for you so you’re not losing any quality either.

This guy will definately be getting my money, its a steal at only $10!

Photoshop Tutorials part 2

April 7th, 2007

Found a load of archived tutorials over @ the Computer Arts website, so am working my way though them to try and block the holes in my Photoshop knowledge.

Here is the result of the tutorial ‘Another Dimension’

Another Dimension

I think the background colouring is a little obvious, but I haven’t quite worked out how to do the technique to make it more subtle yet

Useful mac tip

April 5th, 2007

This is mostly for my own benefit but found this useful tip today:

On a Mac you can make a non-linear selection in a body of text by holding the alt (option) button and drawing a rectangle around the text you want to highlight…. this is useful if you wanted to select a column from a text file

Most text editors seem to support this feature

Got my eye on these badbwoys!

April 4th, 2007

These are the best sample CD’s i’ve heard in along time… most sample CD’s leave me feeling a bit disappointed but from the demo’s (which are lengthy) these sound awesome!

Bit pricey… but will be aiming to get these at some point.

Chix think you would like the Breakbeat Jazz one

More art experiments…

March 29th, 2007

I’ve had Photoshop for a while now but never really got on with it because of my pre-ocupation with Vector graphics, found an awesome tutorial this morning though which has really opened my eyes to the power it has and also the ease certain techniques can be achieved… namely this really cool lighting effect which I’ve been trying in vein to do in illustrator for along time

Magic Hat

Next experiment… combine Vector art with this kinda cool lighting effects :D

Vinylcarvers… legends

March 22nd, 2007

I recently got some dubplates cut for Chix’s birthday. I’ve had traditional dubs cut before and they are heavy and don’t last… so I wan’t to try out a new method I’ve being hearing about, which they claim offers ‘unlimited plays for a one off vinyl’.

I’d heard good things about Vinylcarvers but hadn’t used them… the hype is true, they are awesome! Honest and accurate responses to emails in a more than acceptable time! They even upgraded my postage for free on their own innitiative so that the vinyl would arrive in time to give to Chix for his birthday.

I will definately be using them again!

Incidently the vinyl sounds good and actually appears to be more like vinyl, only time will tell how well it lasts compared to other dubplates/acetates but yeah generally very pleased with the whole process!
