Got a First… oh right! :D

Catch up…

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

So finished uni, results tommorow… and these in the end are the only ones that count!

Had quite a hectic weekend last week….

Thursday – Grad ball (with greatest Greek meal ever!), Fun Loving Criminals and Edith Bowman. Very good night!

Friday – Blakes party, Dara back in the hood for one night only, Grahams last night in Southampton = another late night!

Saturday – Miche’s mates 21st, casino business in their garden which was pretty fun

Sunday – Sub Bass Sunday, charity fundraiser led by Chix or (Chixeeeeeeeeeey to the 57 lot), again very very very cool with some great music.

Have recovered now which is cool but just wondering about jobs and stuff. Ideally would like to go freelance doing web design and general PHP/mySQL/C++ monkeying to earn some money for a year or so and then head of traveling… hence delaying the need to get a real ‘career’ for a bit longer… just wondering if I have the balls for that though as getting interest for design is hard work even though I believe I have the skills to do it well and make enough money to live off, its just gettin the contracts!

Really enjoyed the games/graphics elements of my degree so that is another option but again hard to get into and would need to build up a portfolio, which again needs me to have some kind of regular income aswell!

On the plus side… some exciting news about Jellybass, potentially have a deal with a label who want to put out 2 vinyl singles and the CD Album. Will post more details once its all confirmed and the contracts are signed :D Whilst on the music topic, Starstakka (Kez, Jen, Chix, me) album artwork is done, final tracklisting is confirmed so wont be long till thats available for purchase, lets hope it goes the same way as the JB album!!!

Last handin yesterday so technically no more uni work to do!!!

No more exams…. ever!!! :D

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

Oh right!!!! Just completed the last exam of my uni career :D After having spent the last week pulling 4:30’s tryin to get our game project complete I only had a day to revise. Anyway turns out that the lecturer was feeling nice and gave us 3 crazy easy question, literally the easiest exam of my uni career. Was finished in 45mins and had to busy myself with re-reading what Id written so as to not look like a tool who didn’t do any revision by leavin super early… turns out this was a widespread popular stratergy used in the exam….

Just one more piece of coursework (then a crappy conference) then im done… so the end is in site!!

Here is a screenshot from our game project, which wasn’t quite as good as had hoped it would be largely due to the nature of group work ;) Who knows I might finish it off to be an enjoyable game one day. Have to say as hard as its been I think the game project has been what I’ve enjoyed most at uni, real opertunity to use creative stuff with some complicated maths tecniques… mite explore this avenue futher for future employment propects…

I mite post up a link to a Mac version of the game (as is) at some point. The game was built to be platform indepentdant so theorically should work on any platform that has OpenGL/SDL but the crappy Microsoft Visual Studio compiler crapped out on the last day so until/if I fix it it will be Mac only. Also realised that all the brevardo of Mac’s are better blah blah aside… the simple fact is that for developing software they are sooooo much easier! Having a little trouble with the deployment of the software but that aside the whole development/setting up process is soo much easier!

Matisyahu

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

Ok, so its about two weeks ago now but I’ve finally got the photos from the Matisyahu gig up on the site, click on the image to see the slideshow…

Gig was awesome once we got in, bit of a mix up getting in which resulted in standing in the rain for 2hours waitin to pick our tickets up (not cool!). The venue was massive and was so cool seeing such a wide variety of people under the same roof. As expected a vast proportion of the croud were jewish which is not something you expect when you go out, especially in southampton.

If you havent heard of this guy Id definately recomend you check him out. He is like a Jewish Bob Marley, check the tune ‘King Without A Crown’…. so good!

Last monday me, miche and barn went down to see Zero 7 in concert at the Southampton Guild Hall, will speak more of that when I get hold of the photos but they were incredible also!!!
