Mr Scruff @ The Brook

Friday, November 25th, 2005

Mr Scruff, what a legend! Saw him play at the Brook last night and was such an awesome night! Went down with a few friends and housemates and everyone had an incredible night… Scruff played for the whole night, bringing with him 6 crates of records, 4 turntables, a CD deck, sampler, FX unit and VJ. Technically he was amazing and some of the tracks he played were incredible! Especially liking the last hour of hiphop/dub which went down a treat… even if the Roots Manuva vocals got pulled a bit prematurely.

Here’s a selection of photos from the night…

2 Timothy

Recon this pretty much sums up 75% of conversation in our house:

Refuse to get involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights. God’s servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool

Another crazy weekend…

Monday, November 21st, 2005

This weekend saw the second wedding in as many weeks, was such a great day! That now takes my total up to four for the year with one more before 2006, must be something in the water!

In amongst all the busyness it seems like things are really happening spiritually at the mo! Alot of people seem really hungry for God and alot of my mates are completely loosing the plot! I dont really understand what is going down but I know these guys are reaching a whole new level of intimacy with God and I want in on that. The realisation that God wants to know us all in a very unique and individual way is also cool and very exciting… bring it on!

Yesterday was a great day, lots of time for chilling and praying with different people. Also managed to get an hour or two to do some recording with Kez, which reminds me I never got round to putting any audio clips up… will sort that at some point. Today its back to uni life and thinkin about crazy stuff such as “Deformation of Granular Surfaces” & “Distributed Denial of Service” and other such crap… me and graham did find our house mates kungfu sparing pads and managed to vent a bit of work tension with a bit of a punch up, suprisingly painful given the ammount of padding we were wearing!!!

Next weekend is the first in many that I have no plans so is an officially dedicated chillout only zone!

Funny email

Recieved a funny email today from my mate Ian, thought it was worth a post…

People spend a lot of time thinking up their children’s names. It’s just a pity they don’t always think as hard about their domain names.

Firstly there is Who Represents?, a database for agencies to the rich and famous:

whorepresents.com

Second is the Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views:

expertsexchange.com

Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island:

penisland.net

Need a therapist? Try:

therapistfinder.com

And there is an Italian Power company:

Finally we have the Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales:

No music makes Joe a very….

Really hacking me off that I haven’t had time for much music lately, cant even remember the last time I fired up Logic… think it was about 3weeks ago! Got soooooo much stuff to finish and so much inspiration for new bits but just no time!

Kinda given up on the whole dance-music thing I used to do cos I just dont find it inspiring anymore, very dry and formulaic and all the remix requests Im getting, people just wanted a really specific boring sound, no room for originality! Its annoying though cos I spent many years getting to a point where a few people had heard of me now I gotta do it all again… grrr! Maybe Ill just put out all the stuff I have sitting on my hard-disk then move onto new things?!?!

I think Im going to post up a few “ideas” later on, comments from people would be very welcome… I really want to finish them all but I guess that is unrealistic!

Busy busy…

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Life seems to be flying by at incredible speed! The week is taken up with work, year 4 really is a lot of harder than year 3, and the weekends are just as busy.

Was at a couple of friends, Matt & Sal’s, wedding this weekend in Faversham… was a great day all in all. Dry which was a massive bonus. Good to catch up with some people that I dont get to see as often as Id like aswell. Next weekend is another Wedding, Dave & Abi’s, which fortunately is in Southampton then I get my first free weekend for a about 6weeks… woohoo!

On another note found a a great verse in Galatians that kinda answered a dilema me and Joel where having:

Do your own work well, and then you will have something to be proud of. But don’t compare yourself with others. We each must carry our own load.

Galatians 6v4-5 (CEV)

Changing track completely, been trying to decide on which digital camera to get… seems like the options are endless. Miche is also now wanting one aswell so we both got confused looking at endless models and figures and images yesterday. Think a trip to Jessops is in order to actually have a play with a few. Liking the look of this one tho:
